Allison & Cowan's Fall Wedding at the Brim
The Brim | Kansas City, Missouri
Allison and Cowan’s wedding day was one of those days that reminds me why I love being a Kansas City wedding photographer. They were recommended to me through a mutual friend and past client, which always feels like the highest compliment. From the start, it was clear that their day would be full of intention, joy, and meaningful moments.

A Perfect September Wedding Day in Kansas City
Their wedding took place on September 21, 2025, at The Brim in Kansas City, Missouri, one of my absolute favorite wedding venues in the area. Early fall weddings in Kansas City are hard to beat, and the weather truly showed up for Allison and Cowan. The day stayed beautifully cloudy, which photographers know is perfect lighting for photos. Even better, it stayed dry all the way through the ceremony and portraits.
Right after we wrapped up outdoor photos and headed inside for the reception, the rain began. And honestly, it could not have been more magical. The sun was still shining through the clouds, creating a soft, sparkling rain that added such a romantic feel to the evening. Guests enjoyed dinner while the rain fell outside, cozy and warm inside the venue.
Golden Hour Magic at The Brim
As the rain slowed and eventually stopped, we were gifted with the most stunning sunset. The sky opened up just in time for golden hour, giving Allison and Cowan the dreamiest lighting for their first dance. According to a few guests, there was even a rainbow during the speeches, which felt like the perfect finishing touch to an already unforgettable day.
Thanks to The Brim’s reception space, I was able to photograph much of the evening flash-free. The large garage doors allowed the golden hour sun to pour into the space, filling the room with a warm, golden glow. That natural light created such a timeless, romantic look in their reception photos and made the atmosphere feel even more intimate.
Sunset Portraits & Thoughtful Details
Once the sun dipped lower, we stepped outside for sunset portraits, and they did not disappoint. The combination of post-rain skies, soft light, and the calm energy of the evening made these portraits some of my favorites from the day. Allison and Cowan were completely present with each other, soaking in every moment, and it truly shows in their images.
From start to finish, their wedding day was a perfect example of how timing, weather, and a beautiful venue can come together effortlessly. More than that, it was a reflection of Allison and Cowan themselves—joyful, relaxed, and deeply in love.
